How to request a refund for your ticket

Learn how refund policies work on Tixr and what to do if you need to request a refund for your ticket.

Updated this week

Tixr is the ticketing platform for live events, but refund policies are always set by the event organizer. This means eligibility, deadlines, and refund methods vary by event, and Tixr must follow those rules without exception.

Heads up: Not all events offer refunds. Availability is determined by the event organizer. Refunds are always issued to the original payment method used at checkout.

Refunds for canceled or rescheduled events

If your event is canceled, all ticket holders will receive an email from the event organizer or Tixr with next steps. This message will explain how to request a refund (if action is needed) or confirm if it will be processed automatically.

If your event is rescheduled, your tickets remain valid for the new date. You'll receive an email explaining whether refunds are available if you cannot attend the new date.

If you don't receive an email within 48 hours of the cancellation or reschedule announcement, check your spam folder or contact Tixr support.

Requesting a refund for any other reason

If your event has not been canceled or rescheduled but you would still like to request a refund, start by checking whether your ticket qualifies.

Important: Only the original purchaser can request a refund. If someone else bought the ticket for you, they will need to submit the request.

Checking if refunds are allowed

Refund eligibility depends on the event organizer. You can confirm by:

  • Visiting the event page where you purchased your ticket and scrolling to the Terms section

  • Checking your PDF ticket, where refund and transfer policies are listed in the bottom right corner

If the Terms indicate refunds are not available, you may still have the option to return your ticket for Tixr Credit or transfer it to someone else.

Contacting the event organizer

If refunds are listed as available:

  1. Go to the event page where you purchased your ticket

  2. Scroll to the Contact section

  3. Use the provided organizer email address to submit your refund request

When contacting the organizer, include:

  • Your order number (found in your confirmation email or ticket)

  • The event name and date

  • A brief explanation of why you're requesting a refund

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Can I receive my refund on a different card than the one I used?

No. Refunds are always issued to the original payment method. If your card was replaced or canceled, your bank will route the funds to your new account or contact you directly.

  2. How will I know when my refund has been processed?

You will receive a confirmation email once your refund is processed. If you do not see it, check your spam or junk folder and make sure you are checking the same email address tied to your Tixr order.

  3. My refund was processed, but I have not received the money yet. What should I do?

Refunds typically appear on your statement within 5–10 business days. If it has been longer, contact your bank for the most up-to-date status.

  4. Can I request a refund if someone else bought the ticket for me?

No. Only the original purchaser can request a refund. If someone else bought your ticket, they will need to submit the refund request using their order information.

  5. I checked out as a guest. How do I request a refund?

You can still request a refund by following the same process. Use the order number from your confirmation email when contacting the event organizer. Keep your confirmation email accessible, as it contains all the information you'll need.

  6. Can I request a refund if I simply changed my mind about attending?

This depends entirely on the event organizer's refund policy. Check the Terms section on the event page or your PDF ticket. If refunds are not allowed, check whether you can return your ticket for credit or transfer it to someone else.

  7. I bought multiple tickets in one order. Can I get a refund for just some of them?

This depends on the event organizer's policy. Contact the organizer directly using the information in the Contact section on the event page and explain which tickets you'd like to refund.
