What to do if your event is changed or canceled

Learn what to expect and how to find your options when an event you purchased tickets for is changed, postponed, or canceled.

Updated yesterday

When an event you've purchased tickets for is changed, postponed, or canceled, the next steps and refund policies are determined by the event organizer. Tixr does not have the authority to override or change organizer policies. Most organizers will email ticket holders with specific instructions, but the timing and options vary by event.

Important: Refunds, credit options, and replacement ticket policies are fully controlled by the event organizer. Tixr cannot issue refunds directly unless authorized by the organizer.

Checking for updates about your event

1. Check your email for event updates

Look for an email from Tixr or the event organizer. This message will explain:

  • Whether your tickets are automatically refunded or carried over

  • If you need to take any action

  • Whether the event is postponed, rescheduled, or replaced

2. Review any listed deadlines

Some events require you to opt in or request a refund before a cutoff date. Missing that deadline may forfeit your refund eligibility.

3. Check for replacement ticket details

If the event is rescheduled or replaced, new tickets may be issued automatically. You'll receive details in your email or under My Orders in your Tixr account.

4. Monitor the event's website or social media

Organizers often post ongoing updates or instructions for ticket holders on their official pages.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What should I do if I haven't received an email about the event change?

    Try these steps:

    • Check your spam or junk folder

    • Confirm there's no typo in your Tixr account email

    • Make sure you're checking the correct email inbox if you have multiple accounts

If you still can't find an update, visit the event's official website or social media pages for announcements and next steps.

  2. How will I get my refund if the card I used was canceled?

Refunds are always sent to the original payment method. Your bank will automatically reroute the funds to your new account or contact you directly. You don't need to take any action unless your bank requests it.

  3. Can I still get a refund if I missed the deadline?

Tixr must follow the deadlines and refund policies set by the event organizer. If you missed the deadline, you are no longer eligible for a refund.

  4. What if my event offers credits instead of a refund?

Some organizers offer Tixr Credits instead of a refund when an event changes or cancels. To learn more, see How to Return Your Ticket for Credit.

  5. Will I be notified if there are updates after the initial announcement?

The event organizer is responsible for communicating ongoing updates. Continue monitoring your email and the event's official channels for any changes to refund policies, deadlines, or rescheduled dates.

  6. Can I contact Tixr support to request a refund exception?

Tixr support cannot override organizer refund policies or deadlines. If you have questions about your specific situation, contact the event organizer directly through their official website or social media channels.

  7. How long does it take to receive a refund?

Refund timing depends on the event organizer's processing schedule and your bank or payment provider. Most refunds appear within 5-10 business days after the organizer authorizes them, but some banks may take longer to post the credit to your account.
