How to use a promo code

Apply promo codes during checkout to get discounts on eligible tickets and learn where to enter your code and what to do if it doesn't work.

Updated this week

Promo codes are created and managed by event organizers to offer special discounts. Tixr provides the tools to redeem them securely during checkout, but does not issue or manage the codes themselves.

Where to get a promo code

Promo codes are shared directly by event organizers through:

  • Marketing emails and newsletters

  • Social media posts

  • Fan club memberships or exclusive groups

  • Partner promotions

Heads up: Tixr does not generate or distribute promo codes. All codes come from the event organizer hosting the event you want to attend.

Applying a promo code during checkout

  1. Select your tickets and proceed to the checkout page

  2. Look for the field labeled Enter promo code under your order total

  3. Paste or type your code into the box

  4. Review the discount that appears instantly before you confirm your order

Important: Promo codes must be applied before completing your order. They cannot be added after checkout is complete.

Understanding the difference between access codes and promo codes

Access codes and promo codes look similar but serve different purposes:

  • Access Code: Unlocks hidden or presale tickets so they can be purchased. Enter these before selecting tickets.

  • Promo Code: Applies a discount or special offer during checkout. Enter these at the checkout page.

If you enter an access code in the promo code field, the system will show an error because it's expecting a discount code, not an unlock code.

Troubleshooting promo code issues

If your promo code doesn't apply or shows an error message:

  1. Check for typos. Common mix-ups include I (capital i) vs 1 (one) and O (capital o) vs 0 (zero). Make sure there are no extra spaces before or after the code.

  2. Copy and paste the code directly. This helps avoid case sensitivity or formatting errors.

  3. Confirm you're using a promo code, not an access code. Access codes unlock hidden tickets, while promo codes apply discounts. They aren't interchangeable.

  4. Contact the event organizer if it still doesn't work. The organizer manages promo codes and can confirm if the code is valid, expired, or restricted to specific ticket types.

Heads up: Some events may not support promo codes. If you don't see a promo code field during checkout, the organizer has not enabled this feature for their event.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Can I use multiple promo codes on one order?

No, you can only apply one promo code per order. If you have multiple codes, choose the one that offers the best discount for your purchase.

  2. Can I add a promo code after I've already completed my purchase?

No, promo codes must be applied during checkout before you confirm your order. They cannot be added to completed orders. If you forgot to use a code, contact the event organizer to ask about their refund and repurchase policy.

  3. Why doesn't my promo code work on the tickets I selected?

Promo codes may be restricted to specific ticket types, sections, or price levels. The event organizer controls these restrictions. If your code doesn't apply, try selecting different tickets or contact the organizer to confirm which tickets are eligible.

  4. Do promo codes expire?

Yes, most promo codes have expiration dates or limited redemption windows set by the event organizer. If your code shows as invalid or expired, contact the organizer for clarification.

  5. What if I don't see a promo code field at checkout?

If there's no promo code field visible, the event organizer has not enabled promo codes for this event. Contact the organizer directly if you believe you should have access to a discount code.
